Our Story

Aligned Living was born in 2020, during one of the most uncertain periods in recent history.

Like many people around the world, founder Kathleen Booyse found herself navigating the challenges that accompanied the COVID-19 pandemic. Struggling with insomnia and recognising the growing need for connection, calm, and support, she created a single late-night online yoga class for women who were also finding the season difficult.

The class took place at 10pm each Monday evening. It was simple, intimate, and offered a space to slow down, breathe, move gently, and find a sense of steadiness amidst the uncertainty. What began as one class soon became two. Then a growing library of recorded practices. Then workshops, meditations, Yoga Nidra sessions, retreats, mentorship, and a community of women gathering from around the world.

While Aligned Living has evolved significantly since those early days, the intention remains the same: to create spaces where women can reconnect with themselves and remember what truly matters.

We live in a culture that celebrates productivity, achievement, and constant forward momentum. Yet despite having more access to information, technology, and opportunity than ever before, many women find themselves overwhelmed, burnt out, anxious, lonely, and searching for a deeper sense of meaning and connection.

Aligned Living offers a different approach. One rooted in awareness, self-responsibility, compassion, curiosity, and sustainable well-being. Through practices, retreats, mentorship, education, and meaningful connection, we create spaces where women can slow down, reflect, reconnect, and cultivate a deeper relationship with themselves and the world around them.

At its heart, Aligned Living is built on the belief that everything we are seeking already exists within us. Sometimes we simply need the space, support, and practices to help us remember.

My presence is a testament to yoga's transformative power, reminding us that within each of us lies the potential for profund healing, growth, and awakening.

Our Vision

We envision a world where women feel deeply connected to themselves, to one another, and to the natural rhythms of life. A world where well-being is not treated as a luxury, reward, or afterthought, but as the foundation from which meaningful, fulfilling lives are built.

We believe that when women are supported to understand their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, honour their emotions, cultivate self-awareness, and trust their intuition, they create positive change not only within themselves, but within their families, communities, workplaces, and the wider world.

Our vision is not to create dependence on teachers, experts, or systems. Rather, it is to support women in developing the awareness, confidence, and inner trust required to become their own greatest source of wisdom and guidance.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide accessible, holistic, and deeply human practices that support the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of women.

Through yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, self-inquiry, nervous system education, community connection, and restorative experiences, we offer practical tools that can be woven into everyday life. We are committed to creating spaces that feel welcoming rather than intimidating, supportive rather than prescriptive, and grounded rather than performative.

We understand that healing is rarely linear and that growth often asks us to move beyond our comfort zones. We also believe that rest is essential, that community matters, and that meaningful transformation happens through small, consistent actions practiced over time.

Everything we offer is designed with the intention of helping women live with greater awareness, alignment, purpose, vitality, and joy.

Kathleen Booyse

Founder & Creator

Aligned Living is deeply rooted in my own journey of healing, self-discovery, and transformation.

I am a Women’s Wellness Guide, Yoga Teacher, Retreat Facilitator, and the founder of Aligned Living. Since 2015, I have supported women through yoga, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness, retreats, mentorship, and community experiences designed to cultivate greater awareness, balance, and well-being.

My work is shaped as much by lived experience as it is by professional training. In my early twenties, I experienced burnout, addiction, and a Bipolar Disorder diagnosis while working long hours in the production industry. What followed was a decade-long exploration of healing through yoga, meditation, nature, nervous system regulation, therapy, mindfulness, and intentional living. Along the way, I discovered that lasting transformation rarely comes from a single practice or breakthrough moment, but from the small choices we make consistently over time.

Yoga became a cornerstone of that journey. In 2015, I began my Yoga Teacher Training at The Shala Yoga School in Cape Town and later completed both my 200-hour and 300-hour qualifications. Today, I am a 500-hour registered Yoga Teacher with thousands of teaching hours and experience supporting women from many different backgrounds and stages of life.

My teaching is also influenced by nearly a decade of Noble Silence practice, including a ten-day Vipassana retreat completed in 2022. The principles of presence, awareness, observation, and self-inquiry continue to shape the way I live, teach, and hold space for others.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: the wisdom, resilience, and healing we seek are not found outside of ourselves. They are cultivated through learning to listen, trust, and reconnect with who we already are.

That belief sits at the heart of Aligned Living and continues to guide everything we create.
